Rachel+Josh

Guys... I think I'm sick. TWO blog posts in a month... whatttt!

Rachel and Josh came all the way from California to get married in Rachel's hometown. I think they picked the perfect venue to show all their out of town guests what Kansas City is all about, The Boulevard Brewery Event Space! Beer and BBQ... spot on if you ask me.  The rain held out for their beautiful ceremony and the backdrop couldn't have been more gorgeous.

Their entire wedding was thoughtfully planned out. From the venue, the food, the handmade skirt her sister made, the cake their nephew helped with, his sister singing as they walked down the aisle and writing their own vows. I could tell that they were very much in love, loved by all there and everybody knew how to have a good time!

I hope all the out of town guests enjoyed their time in Kansas City, and maybe can spread the word that there's more than just cows here! ;)

Here are a few of my favorite photos!

Thank you so much for letting me be apart of your special day!

My First Blogged Wedding

My heart and my watch need to learn to work together. I want to post every wedding I've ever shot, but time really likes to challenge me. All excuses aside, I present to you... A wedding!

Leah and Zach came to me a little frazzled as their first photographer had to back out. I truly feel like the luckiest person that I got to help out! I spoke with them a couple of times before the wedding, and I could tell a couple of things;

1. THEY ARE SO NICE! I love nice people.
2. They are very much in love.

I was very right.

Photographing a couple that is nice and in love... so easy. And I think it portrays well in my photos. SO instead of me gushing on how much I enjoyed my time with them, I present to you... Leah and Zach!

Whew. I probably should learn to pick less photos, but sometimes I can't help it! Thank you so much Zach and Leah for letting me capture your special day. It was an absolute honor.

Until next time!

A Baby Story in Black and White.

Babies, I love them. A lot. Not sure if it's because I'm in the childbearing years of my life, or that I've always really enjoyed children, but something about them will always make my heart smile.

Without getting too sappy, I recently shot The Byrnes newest addition, Pierce. The little guy was a champ. He didn't hate me entirely too much (that's probably later down the road) and he laid in otherwise uncomfortable locations without making a fuss. I really enjoyed my short time with him and can't wait to catch up with them in a few short months.

p.s. Deciding to only showcase the black and white images of him were to help focus on all the little things about a baby that are so adorable and I wished could last forever.

My First Post

Two years later, here I am. Very true to Whitney style. If you'd like to know, I'm unsure I have enough to say to keep a blog going. But, after being told by a person and a magazine, and its apart of my website, I made it a goal. I have somewhat of a vision for this thing, but who really knows.

Things you should know:
I don't like the word blog. I'm unsure how to get past that.
I'd prefer to hand write all this, but I'm also unsure you'd be able to read it. Lefty probs.
I'm 110% scared I will fall off the train of this thing. I'd consider myself a busy person. But I know all the positive it will bring.. type freakout...aksdjfsdjkflsjdf;.
As a extrovert by day, and introvert by night.. you should be able to tell when I wrote a post. Some might have 2 words and some (like today) will be a book.

I thought I'd start out by adding pictures of a trip I just went on, in hopes to make this blog look like it will be filled with crazy adventures, and I'm super cool, and should be followed, like constantly. That is as far from the truth, but I do love these pictures and I want to show them. My sweet boyfriend bought me a little point and shoot to take to St. Lucia, so this was it's first trip, and I was impressed. It's a Fuji x30, and it's still taking me a minute to get used to it, but it kept me busy and I'm pretty happy with my photos. (Confession. I did die a little bit when I saw the pitons and wanted nothing more but to put a tripod down and grab my baby and spend all day trying to figure out how to capture of its beauty. But my boyfriend wouldn't have had that. I don't think anybody would have, but it still hurt my soul a little.) (CLICK ON PHOTOS TO LOOK)

St. Lucia is my first island experience. Everybody was so sweet. I like how French party. But my favorite, seeing the dolphins.. oh that's lame? Don't care, I went Hanson nuts on them (Unsure of what that means.. well let me explain. Hanson was my jam as a kid, and I stood strong through all the jokes on the playground, but I loved them loud and proud, no judgment was changing my mind). It wasn't apart of our trip, and we got lucky, saw them jumping from afar, then right next to our sail boat. I seriously squealed, smiled so large I have added a few new wrinkles, and just held my camera in the air and hoped for the best. Next to whales, they're the coolest creatures out there. Pitons were my second favorite, and I'm sure you'll understand why. Watching the French karaoke, definitely third. :) It was a great trip. I'm already ready for the next.

Okay, until next time.
